Take A Trip To Taba, Egypt

Taba Egypt is not a town a lot of people talk about unless they have been there. It’s a hidden gem of Egypt that is ideal for a romantic excursion for a weekend, or simply a short stay on a longer journey. Whatever the reason, you just might be surprised by what this town has to offer.

If you came this way a number of years ago, all you would have seen was an upmarket hotel with a casino, and a bus stop so you could get out again. During the past couple of years development has started to creep into the area, and you will see signs of this everywhere in Taba and the surrounding area. At Taba Heights a few kilometers from town there are a few high-priced hotels, and diving lessons are advertized all over town. The weather and the water is of course perfect for diving. There are frequent ferries sailing from Taba Heights to Aqaba in Jordan, but you can only go that way if you are on an organized tour.

Taba is not really known for pyramids or medieval castles, but there is one well-known monument nearby: The centuries old road between St Catherine’s Monastery and Jerusalem went past Zaman Castle, east of the Sinai peninsula. The panoramic view from here is likely to take your breath away – mountains belonging to four countries stretching into the distance as far as you can see. If you like good food, you will not be disappointed: the Zaman prepares a famous stew of meat, vegetables, figs and dates that will satisfy any gourmet, as long as he is not in a hurry. They take a few hours to prepare this.

You will find no shortage of things to do in Taba Egypt. The waters that surround this beautiful resort village are clear as crystal and filled with spectacular life below the surface. After spending a few hours on the beach in the morning, a trip to the local shops will make for a perfect afternoon, or maybe even a sweet treat at one of the many cafes.

When you are done with the bottom of the sea, you might head for the mountains. Nestled in the mountainous terrain of northern Egypt, 40km from Taba, sits the Castle Zaman. This incredibly massive man made structure is one of the areas most popular places. Apart from allowing people to see a real castle, the location also offers lodging and slow cooked food. The only downside is that it is not recommended for children.

When you want to leave Taba Egypt, why not take one of the many tours to Mount Sinai or Petra offered by local tour operators?
