The Wonders Of Florence
The Uffizi Gallery contains the most important, in some of the world’s greatest art collection. This is also the world’s oldest museum. Most tour books and online travel sites will urge you to ensure that Uffiizi access to any part as a Florence vacation, no matter how short-lived. Most of what can not tell you, or at least enough to emphasis that there is no pre-booking tickets, you may be unable to visit the Uffizi!
My wife and I early in April 2005 in Florence, 3-day holiday. We originally planned to visit the Uffizi Gallery, and as soon as we checked the hotel, we called the gallery to purchase tickets. After our calls have not been answered several attempts, we ask hotel reception to our booking. They explained that it is almost always difficult to obtain through online booking, our three-day period may not provide sufficient notice to make an appointment in advance. Nevertheless, the hotel staff to make most happy at the same time, we have been trying to enjoy the other wonders of Florence. We decided to check out our own situation, the next day found that the queue, but it seems difficult to move around the Uffizi for the great distance from the extension of the region. Queuing day, of course not the case, we hope that our time spent in Florence, so we decided to stay at the reception the staff, and we enjoy, we have to other attractions, the ability of people to see things.
The second night, we were told that obtained after booking through a number of futile attempts, success was finally achieved, but only receive information, all tickets are sold the next day. We have therefore missed a lot, to see the greatest art treasures of Florence, our visit was a short stay in Florence, the most popular holiday travel tips is scheduled Uffizi Gallery tickets online holiday some time ago.
The Duomo It?s impossible to miss Florence?s Duomo, as this magnificent building dominates the city?s skyline and can be seen from almost anywhere. Built by Fillipo Brunelleschi nearly six hundred years ago, the Duomo was the largest cathedral in the world when it was built, and today is still the fourth largest. The most notable feature of the Duomo is its dome, or ?cupola.? Nobody believed that Brunelleschi could engineer this feature, but he was able to achieve it by studying the dome of Rome?s ancient Parthenon. You can savor the views of the Duomo from one of the city?s many cafes, and get a different perspective from one of the hills around the city.
I?d recommend experiencing the Duomo in a unique way by visiting the top of the dome. There?s a stairway that leads to the top which runs between its inner and outer shells. On the top, there?s an external gallery that provides breathtaking views of the city and surrounding Tuscan countryside. Because the gallery wasn?t completed, the views are restricted to the north and west.
The Palazzo Vecchio is another Florence landmark that should not be overlooked during any trip to the city. It is well worth walking all around the building to see it from the outside before going in. A copy of Michelangelo’s David stands now right where the original statue once stood, before it was removed elsewhere for its own safety.
The historic bridge over the river Arno is something that should also be seen. The crowds will be large, but will thin out before crossing to the other side, and dealing with them is worth the hassle. The Boboli Gardens and the Palazzo Pitti, which you will find nearby, should not be missed. For best effect the Arno should be crossed from the Ponte Vecchio.
Florence can literally overwhelm you with its beauty. So much so that there is even a name for this phenomenon: “Stendhal Sydrome”. Stendhal was the name of a French tourist of Florence who actually collapsed with wonder and delight. Pace yourself!
I was in Florence a short vacation trip last technique is to not try to pack too much in. Even the rich art treasures of Florence, the United States, architectural achievements do not actually give you to run the medical help, they can easily overwhelm tourist who does not listen to this a proposal.
